Take CROP walk to change the world
Hunger and poverty are rampant in our world, and something must be done about them. Our Great Prairie Trail CROP Hunger Walk is a great place to start. For a few hours and a few miles, friends and neighbors will be coming together to, in the words of I John 3:18: "...love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action."
On the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 14, the Great Prairie Trail CROP Hunger Walk will be held. The participants, ranging from newborns to nonagenarians, will be raising funds to change the world in measurable ways -- digging wells that will bring clean water to villages; providing seeds and tools so that people can grow their own food; helping communities and families rebuild after disaster.
CROP Hunger Walk funds will benefit the work and ministry of Church World Service -- working in some 80 countries to help those in need help themselves through refugee assistance, self-help development programs and disaster relief.
And, it's important to note that 25 percent of what we raise will help the Addison Community Switchboard, Outreach House Walk-in Ministry (Lombard/Villa Park), two local food pantries, and three local PADS sites. Please mark your calendars and come CROP Walk with us! Together -- with your family, group, or congregation -- we can walk to change the world, one step at a time. And if you can't walk on that day, or just want to broaden your horizon of sponsors, you can walk on the Web with us.
