Passenger thrown from car in rollover accident on I-90

A passenger thrown from a vehicle during a rollover accident on I-90 Saturday night survived with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.

The vehicle was headed east on the tollway near Roselle Road just after 8:30 p.m. when it apparently drove off to the right into the ditch and flipped over, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Frank Gutierrez said.

One person was thrown from the car, while another had to be extracted by firefighters. The most series injuries reported by police at the scene were neck injuries and broken arms, Gutierrez said.

All three passengers -- all adults -- were taken to area hospitals: one each to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Police still were at the scene late Saturday and no other details were available.
