Church announces confirmation classes

Is your seventh or eighth grade child confirmed in the faith?

Barrington United Methodist Church's Parent and Confirmand Orientation will take place at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the church's chapel at 98 Algonquin Road, corner of Route 59, in Barrington.

Then, each Sunday from Sept. 16 into May, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Easter. Confirmation classes will be from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. and will culminate in Confirmation Day on May 18.

Led by the Revs. James M. Wilson and Cynthia Anderson, along with Youth Pastor John Adams, and Chris Streed, confirmation involves large and small group sessions designed to help students build relationships and grow in their faith.

The program also features two retreats, service hours, student/parent discussions, worship, Bible reading and active learning.

"Confirmation is an exciting journey of faith for our middle high students.

And I believe the confirmation process speaks about a church's commitment to youth and its faithfulness to its mandate," said Rev. Wilson.
