How can school need locker room?

Re: Comments in response to your Aug. 20 article headlined "New lockers rooms on way for high school".

Can someone tell me why we need new locker rooms for a newly constructed Vernon Hills High school only eight years old to a cost to the district of $1.4 million?

How much is enough? The Vernon Hills high school was an acceptable tax burden to the district as the need to expand; your planning is the question. Of course, Mr. Porres, the District 128 business consultant, "thinks this is a well thought out plan." Because he's being compensated to make these recommendations, can we say job security? Then tell me, Mr. Porres, if as you state "this is a well thought out plan" why do you go on to say, however, the extra space is not needed this year? I agree it's not needed period! Put that $1.4 million to better use instead applying portions to your ill-advised consulting fees.

I say this is poor planning period and is District 128 politics at its best. Putting the burden back to the district taxpayers now is not acceptable. I believe the new eight-year-old locker rooms are adequate.

To include a coaches film-viewing room is over the top, to say the least. Hey, if the coaches need a place to view game film, try showing it off the taxpayer-paid-for walls in your office, or you're always welcome to come to my house -- I have a big screen and comfortable chairs in my basement they can use!
