Cubs rally Monday downtown

Cubs fans who didn't make it to Wrigley Field over the weekend to celebrate the team's trip to the playoffs are getting a second chance.

The Cubs will host a rally at noon on Monday at Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley are scheduled to join the festivities, which are scheduled to conclude at 12:45 p.m.

"We encourage all of our fans throughout the Chicagoland area to wear Cubbie Blue on Monday and celebrate with us in Daley Plaza," said Jay Blunk, Cubs director of marketing.

Among the scheduled appearances are several former Cubs playoff team representatives: Andy Pafko (1945), Tim Stoddard (1984), Mickey Morandini (1998) and Doug Glanville (2003). Cubs President John McDonough and Hall of Famer Billy Williams will also be in attendance. Wayne Messmer, the voice of Wrigley Field, will serve as the afternoon's emcee.
