Hunger Walk grand marshals named

The Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk Committee has recently announced that Barbara Schmidt and Konrad Bald have been named grand marshals for the 25th anniversary of this event which raises funds for people in need in our communities and around the world.

Schmidt founded the Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk in 1982 and has remained on the annual organizing committee ever since. She was chairman of the event through St. Mark's Episcopal Church for four years.

Bald has been a member of the Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk committee since its beginning in 1982. Since 2001 he has been the top fundraiser in the U.S. Recently, Konrad was named 2007 Barrington Area Development Council Citizen of the Year.

The event is planned for Oct. 14. The walk begins with registration at 12:30 p.m. at Barrington Middle School Station Campus, 215 Eastern Ave., Barrington. For details, call Dennis Rossow, (847) 726-9171.
