School officials are the problem here

Displeasure of the decision by Buffalo Grove High School not to play "God Bless America" expressed by us and many others should not be directed at the atheist freshman or her atheist father.

The disappointment should be at the school administration, district superintendent, and members of the school board who allowed it to happen. This publicly funded high school, while respectful of an atheist freshman, ignored others.

To say "this issue has been blown way out of proportion" is missing the core of the problem. Love of country and citizenship in time of peril. I am sure that the brave young men and women who are in a war not of their choosing and those who lie in peace from previous wars will be comforted knowing that "Take me out to the Ball Game" and the Bears fight song will be substituted for "God Bless America."
