Donated vehicles sought for Habitat

The community is invited to donate vehicles to Habitat for Humanity Lake County's Cars for Homes program. Donated vehicles help Habitat raise funds to build houses in partnership with low income families in need of decent, affordable housing. Home ownership and the benefits it provides can be a stepping stone to a better life for families struggling with the high cost of housing.

Vehicle donations may be eligible for tax deduction purposes. Nearly all types of vehicles are accepted, including cars, trucks, RVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, airplanes and construction equipment. For details and some minimum requirements, visit www.carsforhomes.org or call (877) 277-4344 toll free. Information needed when making a donation includes: manufacturer, model, year, title, VIN and current mileage.

Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry which welcomes all people interested in helping to build decent, affordable houses for families in need. It uses a self-help model and is not a giveaway program. Homes are sold to partner families at no profit with interest-free mortgages. Prospective homeowners must also invest hundreds of hours of labor in the construction of their homes and other Habitat needs. The Lake County affiliate was founded in 1989.
