Guillen had an RBI single and Rodriguez hit a 3-run double in the first inning, and Detroit held on for a victory over Minnesota that pulled the Tigers within 2½ games of New York. The defending AL champions have won nine of their last 12 games to close on New York, which lost 10-1 at Boston.
