Media are echoing Bush's line on Iran
I am having grave concerns that the Bush administration is ready to strike Iran with a massive military assault. The rhetoric emanating from the White House is eerily similar to that heard prior to the invasion of Iraq. President Bush's declaration that Iran is the worlds greatest terror state, Iran is aiding insurgents in Iraq to kill U.S. forces, and a nuclear Iran would lead to a nuclear holocaust in the Middle East are just a few of the drumbeats of war coming out of this administration and some of their media allies to clear the way for an attack on Iran.
Even though no credible proof of any of these accusations has been given, the administration continues to repeat them, and the media continue to report them as if they were facts. This appears to be to be taken right out of the playbook used to drum-up support for attacking Iraq.
What is even most disconcerting is that our media are falling for it all over again. There is hardly any in-depth discussion of this topic in any of the mainstream media outlets. I can only hope that the media do their duty in a democracy as ours and get on this topic before disaster strikes again. I pray that my concerns are unfounded, but I also pray that the media will once more be a reliable force for seeking the truth.
