Shoplifting suspect wanted in 3 other states

A South Elgin woman accused Sunday afternoon of stealing a pair of sheets from a department store also was wanted on warrants in three other states, police said Monday.

Kellee Elizabeth Baker, 38, of 11 Coventry Court, was charged with retail theft, possession of a theft shielding device and attempted obstruction of justice after taking the sheets from Kohl's on Randall Road in South Elgin, police said.

A shielding device prevents shoplifted goods from triggering store alarms.

Baker, the mother of four children ranging in age from 1 to 16 years, was wanted on warrants from North Dakota for theft, Minnesota for theft and South Dakota for parole violation, police said.

South Dakota indicated it would seek to have her extradited.

Baker was being held in the Kane County jail on $15,000 bonds with a Sept. 19 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
