Power restored to area affected by outage
Power has been restored to ComEd customers in Algonquin, Carpentersville and West Dundee after an outage left more than 1,400 customers without electricity Thursday afternoon.
The power went out at 1:46 p.m., when a tree blew onto a power line, causing it to burn out and snap, a ComEd spokesman said.
Power was restored to half of the affected customers by 3 p.m., while the other half were online by 5:40 p.m.
The outage did not affect the operations of Community Unit District 300 schools, district officials said.
A ComEd transformer failure Wednesday knocked out power to Larkin High School in Elgin, prompting the school to cancel its annual parent night.
