Jacob K. Snow, a 2007 St. Charles North High graduate, was awarded a $1,250 scholarship from Covenant Retirement Communities to put toward his college education.
Snow plans to begin his studies this summer at Elgin Community College and transfer to Loyola University in Chicago to pursue a degree in nursing, with jazz studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. The scholarship is one of eight awarded to provide post-high school scholarships to dependents of its employees. Snow's parents both work at The Holmstad, Batavia. His father, Ken, is the fitness facilitator and his mother, Deb, is the housekeeping supervisor.
A selection committee received 34 applications nationwide and based awards on educational and career pursuits consistent with CRC values; an essay demonstrating a defined educational/career goal; and the student's involvement in extra-curricular activities.
Covenant Retirement Communities awarded $11,875 in scholarships this year.
One of the nation's largest not-for-profit retirement community organizations, Covenant Retirement Communities administers 14 retirement communities nationwide on behalf of the Board of Benevolence of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
