School supply drive helps Channing School students
Corporate America Family Credit Union, looking for ways to make a meaningful difference in the community, recently hosted a school supply drive to benefit local kids in need. The member-owned financial services organization is located at 2075 Big Timber Road in Elgin.
Known as "Project Back Pack," the school supply drive resulted in the donation of a number of useful items that were collected for Elgin's Channing Elementary School. Among the items collected were backpacks, notebooks, folders, binders, crayons, markers, rulers, facial tissue, glue sticks, drawing pencils and pencil cases.
According to Channing School's social worker Earlene Froelich, who received the items, the program delivered more than just school supplies for her students.
"The donations from Corporate America will provide many children with a more rewarding learning experience for the upcoming school year," Froelich said. "It's great to have such wonderful support from our community."
"This was another opportunity to make a difference by giving back to give back to the community that has made Corporate America Family Credit Union such a success," said branch manager Laura Kiriluk. "Having our generous members donate so many supplies truly is a gift. The heart-warming welcome and thanks that we received from Channing School made this experience that much more enjoyable."
