Briefs: Circuit City store hosts Bulls guard

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS -- Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich will appear today to open Circuit City's newest store at the corner of Palatine and Rand roads. As part of the grand-opening festivities, Hinrich will be at the store from 6 to 7 p.m. when he will meet fans and sign souvenirs. Customers are able to bring one item to have signed and can buy a $25 basketball to have autographed. Proceeds will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Arlington Heights. This is the 34th Circuit City to open since March 1, 2006.

Acorn Inc. receives new site approval

BUFFALO GROVE -- Akorn Inc. announced it received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its alternate manufacturing site of IC-Green. Akorn will begin customer shipments immediately. The current customer order backlog for IC-Green is about $3 million. Akorn said it regrets any inconvenience this drug shortage has created, and is pleased to re-launch IC-Green into the marketplace. Akorn manufactures and markets sterile specialty pharmaceuticals.
