Ladies VFW group to hold Penny Social fundraiser

The Carpentersville Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5915 will hold its annual Penny Social on Wednesday.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at the Tri-City Evergreen VFW Post, 117 S. First St., West Dundee. They will start calling numbers at 7 p.m.

The Penny Social is a night of fun with many table prizes, two small raffles throughout the evening, which include a food basket and other items, and many door prizes that were donated by local merchants.

The Ladies Auxiliary is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the veterans and the community. The Penny Social is its largest fundraiser of the year. The proceeds help to further the organization's goals such as donating to the local police department, fire department, Little League, Boys and Girls Club, homeless shelters, Community Crisis Center and the American Cancer Society, in addition to VFW programs for donating U.S. flags to schools and awarding scholarships.
