Keep government out of health care

This in regard to the Aug. 15 letter, "Universal health care can work" by James P. Jones.

I am not in favor of any universal health care run by our government. I think people should be responsible for their own care and the care of their families. If the government wants such a program it should be only for the people who pay into it.

A better plan would be to help people be responsible for their own self and their family. Schools should be teaching students responsibility and how to care for their health and how to manage their money. Pay their own way in this world. It is not a free ride for anyone. If a person learns how to manage their money, someday they will have money. If you take care of your health in your youth you will be better off as you grow older.

What is important is not clothes, entertainment or a vacation, but the way you feel about yourself -- and you get that from the inside, not the outside.
