Geneva
•Graffiti was discovered on an electrical service box and a telephone service box at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday at the Metra station on Crescent Place. The boxes are at the southeast corner of the depot.
Kane County
•A small plane landed in a Plato Township cornfield on Tuesday afternoon, but there were no injuries. The pilot told police turbulence caused him to land in the cornfield about 100 yards north of Olson Airport, 9N803 Route 47, in Plato Township. Inspectors found no leaking fuel or hazard from the aircraft. Damage to the field was estimated at $200.
•A mailbox on the 45W200 block of Main Street Road in Kaneville Township was damaged between 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.
•Eight "Open House" signs were stolen from the Fox Mill subdivision in Campton Township between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday. The signs were valued at $240.
•A mailbox on the 1N100 block of Denali Road in Blackberry Township was damaged between 5 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
St. Charles
•Someone shattered the driver's side mirror on a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville between 9:30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday while it was parked in a driveway on the 800 block of Prairie Street.
•Sara Elizabeth Owen, 23, of 7N861 Cloverfield Drive, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of hypodermic syringes. She was arrested in a restaurant on the 100 block of North Smith Road. Police say they found in her backpack 10 hypodermic syringes and a metal cap with residue that tested positive for heroin. Owen's bond was set at $20,000, and she was given a court date of Sept. 4.
• Miguel Angel Sanchez-Basilio is accused of threatening to beat a grocery store clerk Tuesday afternoon on the 2000 block of Prairie Street. The clerk refused to sell Sanchez-Basilio beer because a friend with him could not produce identification to prove he was of legal drinking age. Sanchez-Basilio left the store, and police found him outside of his home at 2039 Wessel Court. Sanchez-Basilio, 22, was released on his own recognizance and given a Sept. 27 court date.
•Someone scratched the side and hood of a 2007 Saturn Ion, causing $1,000 damage, while it was parked in a lot on the 100 block of Walnut Drive between 12:30 and 3 p.m. Tuesday.
•A woman's purse was taken from the lobby of a business on the 4000 block of East Main Street between 3 and 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. The purse, valued at $250, contained a wallet, Social Security card, birth certificate, a debit card and $150. The woman told police that unbeknownst to her, a man had brought her purse from her hotel room down to the lobby where she was attending a party but didn't tell her.
•A Maryland man was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor at 2:32 a.m. Tuesday at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St. The manager, responding to a noise complaint and then later finding the man and two friends opening freezers in the hotel's kitchen, called police. Eric Alexander Proffitt, 18, of 5610 Grauper Court, Waldorf County, Md., was cited.
•The driver of a red pickup truck stole $66 worth of gasoline at 3:45 p.m. Monday from the Clark station at 1660 W. Main St. The truck had an extended cab and a tan bed liner.
•Two tires on an unlocked bicycle were slashed while it was parked in an open garage between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Thursday on the 800 block of South Eighth Street. The tires are valued at $50.
