Football preview: Willowbrook at Glenbard East

Nonconference

Game time: 7:30 p.m., today.

Last year: Glenbard East 17, Willowbrook 14.

Outlook: After finishing last season with a 4-5 record, Willowbrook can directly look at its opening loss to Glenbard East as a main reason why it missed the playoffs. In fact, the first two games of this renewed rivalry, both won by the Rams, have been decided by a total of only 10 points. Look for another close one tonight. Both teams have go-to receivers at the heart of their offense. Glenbard East's Jason Callahan was an All-Area pick last year with 47 catches, while 6-foot-4 Willowbrook receiver Milton Colbert returns 23 catches and 5 touchdowns. Defensively, Glenbard East returns All-Area linebacker Pat Walker as a fourth-year starter. Willowbrook's balanced defense brings back seven starters including all three linebackers.

Next week: Willowbrook at Oak Park; Glenbard East at Oak Lawn.
