Get handle on bike riding at Pingree Grove rodeo
Remember the feeling of first learning how to ride a bike on your own -- without training wheels or a parent's balancing hand?
It's time to strap on a helmet and saddle up to join the Pingree Grove Police Department's bicycle rodeo, from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Cambridge Lakes School, off Wester Boulevard and Cambridge Lakes Drive in Pingree Grove.
Bicycling is a fun way to get exercise. Whether you're an avid mountain biker or simply trying to incorporate cycling into your daily routine, you too can reap the many benefits of bicycling. But it is not without its risks.
This bicycle skills event is designed to teach bicyclists some skills they will need in order to be safer bicyclists. By learning these skills, one can enjoy bicycling more and reduce the chance of injury.
Bicyclists ages 5 to 12 are invited to attend. This event is made up of a series of stations, each dealing with an important aspect of safe cycling. Participants will have their bicycles inspected and then learn about and practice bicycle-handling skills. This will increase their enjoyment of bicycling and could some day save their life. Parents are invited to participate as well.
