Youth photography class: Students ages 10 to 13 can learn to take pictures and have fun at the same time from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 4 to 25. Participants will meet at a different outside location for each class, and will need a new disposable camera for each class. At the last class, students will put together a scrapbook of their best work. Participants will be called with the first class location. The cost is $45 for residents, $49 for nonresidents.

Core strength and toning: This 45-minute class will concentrate on strengthening and toning "core" muscles, including abdominal, oblique and back muscles. This class will include traditional and non-traditional toning exercises, using some strength equipment. This class welcomes all fitness levels. Benefits include a stronger and leaner core as well as lowered risk of future back problems caused by everyday lifting activities. Students with current back problems may want to consider other exercise options. This class is for ages 16 and over from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays from Sept. 5 to Oct. 10. The cost of this class is $40 for residents and $50 for nonresidents.

Before & after school: The program is designed for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. The park district offers care Monday through Friday, or on a daily basis. Their schedule follows District 24, 33, 34 and 41 school calendars. The program is open every school day of the year and offers extended care to meet parents' working hours. Children will participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including homework time, crafts, gym time, games, free time, group activities, movies, pajama parties and special activity days. Dance classes: The park district offers a variety of dance classes, including I Can Dance Two, Pitter Patter Feet, Beginning Dance," "Ballet," "Tap," Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Style of Dance, and Modern/lyrical. Most of the classes begin the first week of September and are held on various days and times. Classes are offered for ages 1½ to adult. Just You & Me Kid: This class designed for toddlers and their parent offers children a wide variety of activities each week in a semi-structured environment. Children learn to adapt to a group setting in a non threatening way. Each week's activities include age appropriate arts and crafts, parachute games, marching band, stories and a song circle. Classes are offered for children ages 18 to 30 months from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesdays. Classes are also offered for children ages 30 to 42 months from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursdays. The cost is $40 for residents and $50 for nonresidents.

Moms in Motion: New moms can bring their strollers and walk the park district's state-of-the-art, temperature controlled, suspended indoor walking track from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays year-round. There is no instructor for this class. Indoor track fees are charged.

Senior coffee club: Relax and enjoy some coffee, doughnuts and company from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. the first and third Monday of the year in the Senior Room. Walk-ins are welcome; registration is not necessary. Bring a friend. For ages 55 and over on. It's $1 per visit.

Senior aerobics: Ages 55 and over can keep fit and active with low-impact exercise set to a fitness video from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Senior Room. Registration is not required. The fee is $1 per visit.

Cards and games: Come play a card game or board games at 2 p.m. Thursdays in the Senior Room. Participants may bring a favorite game if they like. Free for those 55 and over.

Mahjongg: The ancient Asian tile game of mahjongg is played at 9:45 a.m. every Monday in the Senior Room for anyone who is interested. Participants who have a game are asked to bring it in.
