The Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduling auditions for all string parts during August. Auditions are held by appointment only.

String players auditioning for a position in the orchestra are required to play two contrasting pieces and perform sight-reading exercises.

The Oct. 7 concert program is titled "Cartoon Classics" and will feature clips from famous Warner Brothers and Disney cartoons that used classic music selections in the soundtracks. After each cartoon clip, the orchestra will play the actual piece used in the cartoon.

"A Christmas Story"

on Sept. 17-18 at Steel Beam Theatre, 111 W. Main St., Director Charlie Brieger will see children ages 7 to 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each evening and adults of all types and ages from 7:30 to 9 p.m. each evening. The play starts Nov. 23.
