College of Lake County notes

Sept. 7 is the deadline to enter the College of Lake County's 27th Annual Juried Exhibit for Lake County artists at the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art.

A total of $1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to artists selected for Recent Works 2007, which runs from Sept. 28 to Nov. 4. Entry forms, notification cards and fees are due by 3 p.m. Sept. 7 to the circulation desk at the CLC Library/Learning Resource Center on the Grayslake campus. One or two pieces of artwork (not slides or e-mailed photos) have to be submitted for the jurying process. Artwork can be delivered from 1 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11 or 12 to the library receiving dock.

The exhibit's jurors are Dan Addington, owner/director of the Gwenda Jay/Addington Gallery of Chicago and Eddwin Meyers, an artist and adjunct faculty member at Elgin Community College. Artists who are 18 or older and reside or work in Lake County may submit up to two entries of original work completed in the past two years that have never been shown in the CLC gallery. Works are limited to 72 inches in any direction, and may be paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, sculpture or ceramics.

To request an entry form or for detailed information, contact Steve Jones, gallery curator, at (847) 543-2240 or via e-mail sjones@clcillinois.edu. Entry forms can also be downloaded from the gallery Web site, http://gallery.clcillinois.edu. This exhibit is sponsored in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
