Computer classes for seniors to start

Registration for Palatine SeniorNet will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6-7 at the Palatine Township Senior Center, 505 S. Quentin Road, Palatine. The Palatine SeniorNet Learning Center (PSNLC) is sponsored by the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council.

Classes are held in the Community Consolidated School District 15 administration building, 580 First Bank Drive, Palatine. Membership in the national organization SeniorNet, entitles participants to classes at any SeniorNet Center throughout the country.

Most course fees are $45, plus $30 for SeniorNet -- Back-to-Class fall special for students without membership -- and $10 for books and materials for eight- and four-week classes.

The following eight- and four-week classes are offered this session:

•Computer Basics -- two classes; fall special fee of $40

•Introduction to Computers -- two classes

•Word Processing Using MS Word 2002

•Windows XP

•Excel

•Photoshop Elements Basic -- four weeks

•Introduction to Internet and e-mail -- four weeks

•Basics of Family Tree Maker -- four weeks

The following two- or four-hour workshops are also available this session. Fees are $10 for two-hour ($12 nonmember), and $15 for four-hour workshops ($17 nonmember).
