Police are seeking information on a suspicious truck seen in Virgil Township Sunday. At about 5 p.m. witnesses reported a white Toyota pickup on the side of the road near Lees Road west of Route 47. Two males exited the cab of the truck and forced a third male who was also riding in the cab of the truck into the truck bed. The cover was locked and the truck left northbound on Rt. 47, according police. The driver of the truck was wearing blue shorts and a tanish/orange T-shirt. Woman fights off man:
St. Charles police are looking for a man who attacked a sleeping homeless woman early Saturday. According to a police report, the 30-year-old woman was sleeping in a van on the 1700 block of Covington Court when she awoke about 4:40 a.m. to a man punching her in the face. The victim told police she fought off the man by scratching him and hitting him with a can of green beans. The assailant was described as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a white T-shirt and camouflage shorts. The woman was treated for facial injuries at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, police said.
Scarecrow Fest needs you:
The St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking entries for the 22nd Annual Scarecrow Festival Oct. 5 to 7 at Lincoln Park. There are five categories for the scarecrow making contest: traditional, whimsical, mechanical (automated), children's and business-related. Festival goers will decide the winners, who will receive cash prizes and gift certificates. For more information and an entry form, go online to www.scarecrowfest.com. Rover Rescue needs items:
Donations are being sought for the annual Rover Rescue garage sale, which provides care for homeless dogs. Organizers are seeking kitchenware, books, baby furniture, tools, glassware, baskets, holiday decorations, toys and sports equipment, among other items. No upholstered furniture or large appliances will be accepted. The garage sale is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 326 Sharon Lane in North Aurora.
