Youths charged with stealing liquor and cigars from golf course

Two Bartlett 17-year-olds and another youth are facing burglary charges after police said they were found trying to steal items "large quantifies" of alcohol and cigars from a local golf course.

Bartlett Sgt. Michael McGuigan said officers on bicycles and a Segway were patrolling the Bartlett Hills Golf Course, 800 W. Oneida, about 10 p.m. Thursday when they came across three youths allegedly burglarizing the concession stands.

The three, McGuigan said, had taken a case of beer, several bottles of alcohol and several cigars, with an estimated of value of between $200 and $300.

Demetrios Theodosopoulos, 17, of 322 Newport Lane, and Jason Clark, 17, of 986 Doral Drive, were each charged with one felony count of burglary. A juvenile was also taken into custody and petitioned to juvenile court on the same charge.

Theodosopoulos and Clark were released on $5,000 bond with a Sept. 14 court date. The juvenile was released into the custody of a parent.

The Bartlett Police Department added a Segway to its force in May. It's one of the first police forces in the Chicago area using the battery-powered, scooter-like personal transporters for patrols.
