It's time to find fiscal responsibility

As in every other election some of us were disappointed but it is now time to move forward to support and work with Barack Obama. There are huge problems and we have to trust the president to select good advisers for guidance.

The federal spending has been out of control and it will take many more dollars to get back on track. We will have to pay and sacrifice before this economic problem is over. We cannot "soak the rich" who provide jobs and who will stop producing if there is little reward or incentive. Lincoln truthfully said "you cannot help the poor by destroying the rich".

Some have estimated that about 40 percent of our people rely on government for some form of support. This is a dangerous trend. A government that is strong enough to give all to everyone is strong enough to take it all back.

Most voters re-elect those who promise and give them the most. In congress 95 percent of the incumbents are re-elected each time. If you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can count on the full support of Paul.

Now we have to face these many problems, tighten our belts, and work together. We must get jobs for the unemployed, we all need health care.

This is a crisis that will require big expenditures to solve. If labor is cheaper in another country their product is cheaper and customers will buy their products.

Our living standard will suffer before this is over. Once the economy is back on track we have to hope the president and Congress will keep in mind that our huge deficit must be faced and solved, and that common sense and working for the common good has to prevail. Our children will be grateful.
