Lombard water main break

A water main ruptured in Lombard while firefighters were attempting to put out a garage fire on the 600 block of North LaLonde Avenue, officials said. Lombard fire and public works officials found the break near the intersection of Sunset Avenue and LaLonde, officials said. The water main is owned, operated and maintained by Illinois American Water, not the village of Lombard, village officials said. The area water pressure was lowered to prevent water from flowing into the street. Village officials are directing any questions to Illinois American Water's 24-hour service center at (800) 422-2782.
