South Elgin police are searching for a woman who robbed the Foxdale State Bank this evening.
According to police scanner reports, the woman implied that she had a handgun, but never displayed a weapon, while holding up the bank at 1140 West Spring Street about 5:10 p.m.
South Elgin Police Chief Chris Merritt said the woman presented a threatening note that read, "If you call the police, I will kill you."
The woman then fled the bank on foot and got into an unidentified vehicle. Police described the suspect as black, in her 30s, short, with a thin build, long hair and wearing a purple coat with fur trim.
