Chicago police officer shot

A Chicago police officer has been shot in a confrontation with an armed man on the city's northwest side.

According to police, a suspect who has not been identified was also wounded in the incident late Thursday.

Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the officer, who was shot in the shoulder, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was listed as "stable."

Authorities say the wounded man was taken to the same hospital suffering a leg wound.

Police said a weapon was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
