Snow, ice expected in Illinois
Forecasters say subzero temperatures that hit Illinois will give way to a snow and ice storm.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from early Tuesday through 6 p.m. Wednesday across the northern tier of Illinois. Meteorologists say they expect snow to accumulate 2 to 4 inches on Tuesday before changing over to sleet and freezing rain on Tuesday night.
The expected snow and ice storm comes after brutally cold subzero temperatures and wind chills of as low as minus 35 degrees hit Illinois over the weekend.
Snow accumulation of two to four inches is expected with wind gusts up to 30 mph, already making driving treacherous and threatening another long commute home.
