Aurora teen accused of kidnapping, raping woman turns self in

The Aurora teenager accused of kidnapping and raping a 25-year-old woman at gunpoint turned himself in Sunday afternoon, police said.

Cedric T. Flax, 18, of the 400 block of Spruce Street in Aurora, was arrested without incident at 1:45 p.m., said police Spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

Flax has been charged with unlawful restraint and additional charges are pending, Ferrelli said.

Flax is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday morning, when a judge will set his bond.

The female victim told police that around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, she left her sport utility vehicle unlocked and running in the parking lot of a gas station on the 300 block of West Galena Boulevard.

When she returned to her SUV, police reports said that the suspect was hiding in the back seat, grabbed her around the neck and put a handgun to her head.

She told police the suspect ordered her to drive to a far east side apartment complex in the 1200 block of Andover Circle, where she was sexually assaulted inside the building.

Afterward, the woman told police she was forced to drive to Flax's apartment on Aurora's west side where he held her against her will before releasing her at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman was treated and released from an Aurora hospital.
