Six arrested after Sugar Grove police break up underage drinking party
Six people were arrested in Sugar Grove early Thanksgiving morning after officers responded to a complaint of an underage drinking party in the 300 block of Maple Street, police said Tuesday.
Police went to the apartment about 12:23 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call from the unit's renter, said Sugar Grove investigative officer John Sizer.
Steven J. Pounders, 22, of the Maple Street address, was arrested and charged with obstructing justice and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police said Pounders refused to allow officers into the residence and claimed that there were no minors in the apartment when they first arrived. The lease holder later met police at the apartment and gave them permission to search it.
Also arrested on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor were Jacob P. Bavilacqua, 22, of the 1900 block of Mystic Drive, Plainfield; Stacey A. Pero, 21, of the 400 block of east Barberry Court, Yorkville; and Savannah D. Sven, 21, of the 200 block of east Grand Avenue in Fox Lake.
Anthony S. Pelitier, 20, of the 300 block of Maple Street, Sugar Grove, and Tara L. Schiltz, 20, of the 800 block of Canyon Trail in Yorkville, were arrested and charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor.
All were released with a court date of Jan. 16 at the Kane County branch court in Aurora.
Police say that Pelitier and Schiltz face a suspension of their driving privileges, in addition to other penalties, if found guilty of underage drinking.
