Teacher salaries aren't the problem
In response to the letter from Bob Long of Inverness, apparently he does not feel that CEO salaries, pensions, and benefits are disproportionate to the rest of society.
Specifically, he mentions teachers and others should cut back benefits when they already are overworked and underpaid. Having decent pension and benefits, is at least some reward for us enduring low salaries for many years, especially when you consider that most of us could have made much more money with our expertise and education in another profession.
Instead, Bob we happily chose to serve you, your family, and society, and to provide one of the most important roles in our society - educating youth. I would think you would better aim your disdain at expenditures like Sammy Sosa's one-year $16 million contract or Tom Cruise's $30 million salary for one movie.
Also, do not forget that the value of your home in Inverness is highly dependent on the excellent schools in your area.
