Mundelein woman denies attacking officer

A Mundelein woman charged with attacking a police officer pleaded not guilty Friday in Lake County circuit court.

Irina Kalinichenko, 49, faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of aggravated battery and resisting arrest.

Mundelein police said Kalinichenko, of 1720 Derby Lane, had called police several times to complain about the noise from trucks going in and out of an industrial park near her home.

Police said she was told that there were no village ordinances barring the trucks from be in the park and no action could be taken.

On Aug. 1, police were called to the park just before 4 a.m. because Kalinichenko was in the parking lot of one of the factories yelling at truck drivers.

When police arrived, Kalinichenko ripped the name tag off one officer's uniform and scratched him on the arm, police said.

Kalinichenko also struggled with officers as they tried to arrest her, police said.

Associate Judge Theodore Potkonjak scheduled a trial of the case for Feb. 6 and ordered Kalinichenko to appear in court again Jan. 29.

She is free from custody after posting $200 for bond.
