Noted guests for Spike's last show
Spike O'Dell will play host to an all-star team of special guests in his last WGN 720-AM show at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights today, headed by Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn.
O'Dell will also be joined by former WGN-AM colleagues such as news anchor Tom Petersen, who was on the air with him when the planes hit the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, and Dan Fabian, the general manager who brought him to Chicago, as well as Annie Maxfield and Lyle Dean.
Fellow WGN-AM hosts Steve Cochran and John Williams, who will replace O'Dell in morning drive, are also expected, as are current WGN-AM General Manager Tom Langmyer and Program Director Bob Shomper.
Of course there'll be the usual suspects: news anchor Andrea Darlas, traffic reporter Mary Van DeVelde, farm reporter Orion Samuelson ("The Big O"), sports director Dave Eanet and producer Jim Wiser, along with Roosevelt University professor and political commentator Paul Green.
Don't forget O'Dell's wife, Karen, and their son, Michael, with his wife, Sarah, and daughter Caroline with her husband, Chris - and Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder.
