Police release sketch of South Elgin robbery suspect

Police have released a sketch of a woman suspected of robbing a South Elgin bank Friday.

About 4:55 p.m. Friday, the woman took an unknown amount of cash from State Bank of Illinois, 1140 W. Spring St., after handing a teller a note implying she had a weapon, police said.

The note said: "If you call the police, I will kill you," according to police.

Anyone who has any information about the suspect is asked to call police at (847) 741-2151.

No one is in custody, and police provided no further details of the crime Saturday.

Police described the suspect as a thin, black woman in her 30s, about 5'3" and wearing a purple coat with a fur hood, dark pants and light athletic shoes.

South Elgin police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating the robbery.
