Global warming is real, immediate

Global warming is a serious issue that needs to be acknowledged and acted upon. A lot of people don't realize just how real global warming is, and even if they do, people often do nothing. My challenge to people is to do something. There are so many things a person can do to help prevent global warming. To understand global warming you have to understand the greenhouse effect. The Britannica Elementary Encyclopedia explains it: "The Earth needs to trap energy from the Sun in order for temperatures to be warm enough for people to live. The greenhouse gases in the atmosphere perform this function. However too many of them in the atmosphere lead to extra heat being trapped on Earth, which leads to global warming."

The facts are that global warming is real. According to edf. org.: "In February 2007, the thousands of scientific experts collectivity known as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that there is greater than 90 percent likelihood that people are causing global warming."

If the people of the world don't do something quickly, the future generations will be faced with horrible problems. Some basic things anyone can do is to unplug unused electronic objects, carpool with others to save gas, use energy-efficient light bulbs, wash your clothes in cold water instead of hot, and take shorter showers. But the most important thing you can do is to inform others of global warming and what they can do to help. Global warming isn't going to disappear. We need to something, or else future generations will be affected by our mistakes.
