Priest blasts church settlement of sex abuse claim
A Catholic priest accused of child sexual abuse says he feels betrayed by church leaders who announced a nearly $1.4 million settlement in a case involving allegations against him.
The 58-year-old Rev. Chester Przybylo was never criminally charged and says he maintain his innocence. He told The Associated Press on Friday he feels outraged and shocked by news of the settlement.
He is now a pastor at an independent church in the Chicago suburb of Winfield. He has filed a slander suit against his accuser, the accuser's attorneys and two organizations involved in priest abuse cases.
Attorney Jeff Anderson says the Rev. Chester Przybylo allegedly abused a young teenage boy repeatedly at Five Holy Martyrs parish from 1987 through 1992.
