H.S. gym class should be required
Obesity is a growing problem in adolescents partly because of their unwillingness to exercise. Requiring students to enroll in physical education class all four years of their high school career can help prevent obesity. We cannot leave the choice of whether or not to take a physical education class up to the student because they do not always know what is best for them.
This requirement could greatly decrease the probability of the students becoming obese adults by teaching them healthier habits. Learning to exercise frequently can also reduce the risk of many obesity-related diseases such as diabetes. High school students could significantly benefit from mandatory physical education classes.
