Longtime EIU coach to return for 2009

CHARLESTON -- Longtime Eastern Illinois University football coach Bob Spoo says he'll be back for the 2009 season.
Spoo is 71 years old and has been at head coach at Eastern since 1987.
Athletics director Barbara Burke on Tuesday called Spoo the face of the Panthers and welcomed him back.
Eastern has been a regular playoff participant in Spoo's 21 seasons. But EIU missed the post season this year after finishing 5-7.
Spoo is a combined 132-109-1 at Eastern.
He missed all of 2006 after having surgery for a medical condition.
