Man pleads guilty to shooting at commuter train

A man Chicago man has pleaded guilty in federal court to shooting at a Metra train engineer last summer as part of a murder-for-hire plot.

In entering the guilty plea Wednesday, 33-year-old Telly Virgin said Theodore Howard gave him money, drugs and a gun to kill Howard's ex-wife, Andrea Brown.

Virgin said Howard drove him to the Metra train station on June 6, 2007 to carry out the shooting. Virgin shot at the moving train believing Brown was operating it.

Virgin said he never intended to kill Brown, only to scare her. Howard allegedly asked Virgin to try again if he wanted to get paid.

Virgin faces 210 to 262 months in prison. But could get a reduced sentence if he continues to cooperate with prosecutors.

Howard was charged in the plot in October.
