Fire reported in Lake Villa

Firefighters spent more than six hours battling a New Year's Eve blaze in Lake Villa.

The house fire was reported around 3 p.m. near Route 59 and Beach Avenue, just north of Petite Lake Road, and firefighters remained on the scene as of 9:40 p.m. Part of Route 59 was closed.

Further details weren't immediately available. The county coroner's office reported no fatalities.
