St. Charles sex offender charged with living near day care center
A St. Charles man was charged with a felony for failing to relocate away from a day care center after being convicted of a child sex crime, police said Friday.
Ryan J. King, 28, of 1737 Covington Court, was charged Thursday with unlawful residency of a child sex offender, a Class 4 felony.
On Oct. 1, King was convicted of sexual exploitation of a child in Cook County Circuit Court. Police said King was told then he must move out of his residence, which was within 500 feet of Kinder Care, a children's day care facility. But as of Thursday, he still lived there, according to police.
If convicted, King could be sentenced to between one and three years in prison.
