Mission needs help to feed families

Open Arms Mission Food Pantry seeks donations to purchase 800 food boxes to distribute to low income families this holiday season. A $25 donation provides a holiday dinner, including a 12- to 14-pound turkey, potatoes, vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, dessert and coffee. Each box also provides additional nutritious foods. Donations can be made online on the mission's Web site, openarmsmission.org, or by sending a donation to Open Arms Mission, PO Box 79, Antioch, IL 60002.

Spend Thanksgiving Day with the sailors

On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, New Life Lutheran Church of Lake Zurich will host a group of 10 Naval recruits from Great Lakes Naval Station. A meal will be served at noon. New Life is extending an invitation to anyone in the community that would like to attend. There is no cost to attend, but participants must RSVP by Monday, Nov. 24. New Life is at 910 S. Hainesville offers automatic debit

The Village of Hainesville now offers automatic debit for payment of monthly water, sewer, garbage and motor vehicle license fee bills. Automatic debit payment is intended to save time, eliminate late fees and reduce check writing. Letters with authorization agreements and terms and conditions were mailed to all residents that are issued a monthly utility bill on Monday, Nov. 3. GLCU holds holiday food drive

Great Lakes Credit Union has asked members and employees to donate nonperishable food items for families to be given to local pantires in Antioch, Gurnee, Libertyville, North Chicago, Round Lake, Spring Grove, Waukegan and Zion in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
