No signs a bad sign in Sun City Huntley

Is Sun City an "anti-American" community? Are we all "Elitists"?

I am referring to the fact that, under the Sun City Association of Huntley Inc. guidelines, election campaign signs are not allowed. This was brought to my attention when I received a violation notice from the association ordering me to remove an Obama/Biden sign from my front lawn by Oct. 30 or "fines will apply."

The Association quotes Section 10.1 of the CC and R's - Signs which only allows "For Sale" signs.

Aside from the fact that I think not allowing campaign signs violates the First Amendment right to free speech, I feel campaign signs should be treated the same as holiday decorations. Sun City residents can put them up so many days before a holiday and must take them down so many days after the holiday. Aren't campaign signs, in effect, seasonal? Couldn't the campaign signs be subject to the same restrictions as holiday decorations?

What about local referendums like the present Huntley Library addition? Sun City residents use the library. Shouldn't they be allowed to show their support or nonsupport? How about showing support for candidates for the village board? Good grief, there are members of the board who live in Sun City.

Finally, one more point about my violation notice for an Obama/Biden sign. Two homes in my neighborhood have McCain/Palin signs. They have not received violation notices.

Is there a right-wing conspiracy in Sun City? Just thought I'd ask.
