Speakers to address health, abuse issues

Courageous Journeys and Optimal Health Modalities will host an Open House Forum with two distinguished presenters, psychologist Peggy Oliveira, LCSW and massage therapist Sheri Miranda, NCTMB, CHPP. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Spring Hill Executive Center, 600 Springhill Ring Road, West Dundee, in the conference room.

Oliveira will present a 20-minute talk at 6:15 p.m., titled "Hope & Healing" dealing with the affects of sexual assault/abuse and awareness regarding relationship violence. will present a 20-minute talk at 7 p.m. titled "The Hidden Issues in your Tissues," the impact of your emotions and trauma on your physical well-being. Question and answer time will be available after their presentations.

Seated massage will be available from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and 7:30 to 8 p.m. at a suggested donation of $5 per minute will go toward the Lotus Rising Foundation. Local vendors will sell their wares with a percentage of the sales donated to Lotus Rising Foundation.

Lotus Rising Foundation, lotusrisingfoundation.org, is a local not-for profit public awareness and advocacy organization whose mission is to promote creative pathways to transcending oppression and violence in ethnically and culturally diverse communities, with particular focus on raising social consciousness and inspiring individual and collective action toward prevention, intervention and healing
