Illinois, Senate inventories Obama's chair, other items
SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Senate and the state Historic Preservation Agency are taking an inventory of items used by President-elect Barack Obama when he was a state legislator.
Among the items being collected is the swiveling, high-backed leather chair once used by Obama. The chair and other memorabilia could be headed to a museum.
Cindy Davidsmeyer is a spokesman for Senate President Emil Jones. She said the assessment is just beginning.
Obama, a Chicago Democrat, served in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004.
He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004.
