Election hotline

An election complaint hotline has been created for Kane County voters who observe or experience problems voting on Election Day. People can call the hotline, (630) 208-5328, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Questions about polling times and places still should be directed to the Kane County Clerk's Election Help Line, (630) 232-5990.

Suicide group to meet

Attempters' of Suicide support group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stone Manor, 528 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia. It is sponsored by Suicide Prevention Services. Call (630) 482-9696, or visit spsfv.org for more information.

Hispanic Heritage recruiting

Aurora's Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board is seeking members. The board is a nonpartisan advisory panel that acts as a bridge between the Hispanic community and others in the city. The board meets at 9 a.m. on the second Monday of the month at city hall, 44 E. Downer Place. Those interested in applying can call Liz DeLeon, events coordinator, at (630) 844-4731 no later than Dec. 12. Members are appointed by the mayor.

Delnor wins award

Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva has been named a Designated Planetree Patient-Centered Hospital. This designation recognizes Delnor's achievement and innovation in fostering a culture within the hospital where providers partner with patients and families, and where patient comfort, dignity, empowerment and well-being are prioritized with providing top-quality clinical care. Delnor is the first hospital in Illinois and only one of six hospitals nationwide to have received the Patient-Centered Hospital Designation since the program's inception in 2007.

IMSA accepting applications

Applications for the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Class of 2012 are available at imsa.edu/admissions. Students enrolled in the equivalent of a freshman program are eligible for consideration to the three-year advanced college preparatory program. Students live on campus. Tuition and most room-and-board expenses are provided by state funds. Written applications must be postmarked no later than March 1. Students may obtain the applications online or contact their high school guidance counselor or IMSA's admissions office at (630) 907-5028.
