Representation should be temp job
Now that I am in my 60s, I have come to the conclusion that to be represented at any government level where you are paid we are really not or we are minimally represented.
I believe their actions speak louder than their words. I cannot remember where anyone in Washington or at the state level have ever really represented me or my neighbors. Can you?
I believe that a representative at any level should be in office no longer than eight years. Our founding fathers spent only a few years in Washington or Springfield and then returned to their homes to work on their farms or other occupations. Being a representative should not be a career for what you can get for yourself but to represent the people of your area.
Once they make it in a career in politics they turn on their constituents they represent and are concerned about themselves. Example: Mr. Durbin's wife and son are lobbyists and bring millions of dollars to special interest groups they represent. Other representatives do the same (They do not represent you) so my question is does Mr. Durbin represent me of what he and his family get monetarily?
Today the motto is "It is who you know not what you know." If we want to be represented, you the taxpayer must hire a lobbyist. Now you and I will be paying double for our representation.
Look at the mess our representatives (good old boys) have done for us. They (Republicans and Democrats) took the regulations on banks away and let them run out of control. They have put your great-grandchildren into debt. Our government elite are now running two wars and paying Wall Street for their incompetence.
AIG went broke due to greed and we were not even invited to the half-million-dollar party in California after we bailed them out. They went broke and we the taxpayers got the bill. Our representatives talked about the party, but no one was held accountable or fired for this incompetence.
Please vote this November and vote for new people that are not corrupted by life in Washington or Springfield.
